Presented by Beth Permenter, Phoenix Bikes Youth Program Manager, and Teen Mechanics from the Youth Program
Getting a flat tire is a rite of passage for every cyclist, but it doesn’t have to mean calling a cab or walking your bike home. Knowing how to confidently remove a tire, replace a tube, and get back on the road is the single most empowering skill a rider can learn. Led by Youth Program Director Beth Permenter and the talented teen mechanics from our program, this workshop demystifies the flat-fixing process. We will guide you step-by-step through wheel removal, safely using tire levers, finding the source of the puncture, and seating a new tube. You don’t need any prior mechanical experience to participate—beginners are completely welcome, and our youth mechanics are excited to share their expertise!
A step-by-step demonstration on how to fix a flat tire will be provided. You can get hands-on experience practicing with our tools and demo wheels, or simply watch and learn.
