Schwalbe may be the greenest tire manufacturer on the market. The German company is all-in with their cradle to cradle commitment to sustainability.
Sean Cochran, Schwalbe USA’s Marketing Manager, told us that Schwalbe is the only cradle to cradle innertube maker out there–every new tube is composed of a minimum of 20% recycled material from used tubes turned in through Schwalbe’s innertube recycling program.
The Green Marathon is Schwalbe’s top selling tire model and their leader in puncture protection, mileage and environmental friendliness. The tires, meant for both regular bikes and e-bikes and available in a wide range of wheel sizes and widths, are made from 80% recycled material and feature a tread pattern optimized for rolling performance and longevity.
“We believe the Green Marathon is making the biggest difference globally through its use of recycled rubber, and Schwalbe’s company-wide commitment to making tires that last and take on second or third lives,” said Cochran. It’s a far-cry from the one-and-done ethic of many other high-performance tire manufacturers.
The Marathon Plus line of tires for bikes and e-bikes are, according to Schwalbe, “the only tires in the world that can call themselves unflattable.” These “flat-less” tires feature a patented puncture belt, extreme wear resistance and dynamic rolling characteristics.
Schwalbe have been exhibitors at PBE since 2017. You can find out more about their extensive line-up for bikes and e-bikes of all kinds at www.schwalbetires.com.
